With their 40 year anniversary looming, Unisuper approached Hive about producing a coffee table book that would celebrate their history. A lot changes over four decades, especially in the world of superannuation, and they wanted the book to celebrate, share and educate employees on their long and eventful history.
The task began with research. Hive conducted interviews with long standing board members, staff and as many CEO’s as possible. We dove into references, and turning over as many stones as we could find to get the stories, moments and events that have helped shape the company into what we see today. The interesting facts, inspiring anecdotes and engaging stories were organised into eras, allowing readers to walk alongside the company as time progressed.
The design was a crucial step. The company wanted it to act as a snapshot of where the brand is at today, almost like a time capsule. The brand was meticulously put to work, creating a system that flowed from era to era. It champions the age of images, connecting today’s brand with the snapshots from four decades ago. The company’s growth was visualised through smart infographics, and quotes highlighted the clever people that helped shape super into what we know today.
The book was announced at the 40 years of UniSuper celebrations by the current CEO, Peter Chun. The hard cover, foil stamped end product was distributed to the board and other important dignitaries from their history, while a digital version was sent to every one of their almost 1200 employees. Received positively by all, it bookmarks its place in the history of the company and looks forward to the next chapter.
